American Forests, REVERB Help Austin Reach Tree Canopy Goal to Provide Heat Relief
American Forests, the nation’s oldest conservation nonprofit, and REVERB, the music industry’s leading sustainability partner, today announced a new community tree planting event and partnership to help expand tree canopy in Austin as the city works to meet its goal of 50% tree canopy by 2050. This work was made possible with support from Billie Eilish and her fans through Eilish’s groundbreaking Changemaker Program and the Canadian folk band Wild Rivers.
American Forests Awarded Catalytic USDA Forest Service Funding to Relieve Extreme Heat and Address Inequity Through Expanded Tree Canopy
Today, conservation nonprofit American Forests received $50 million for its Tree Equity Catalyst Fund to help cities and frontline community organizations across America tackle extreme heat and provide equitable tree cover to historically disadvantaged communities. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the award as part of over $1 billion in Tree Equity projects made possible by funding from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the largest-ever investment in urban forestry.
