What Happened?

Shares of agricultural and construction machinery company Deere (NYSE:DE) jumped 3.1% in the afternoon session after Baird analyst Mircea Dobre upgraded the stock from a Neutral rating to Outperform.

An upgrade to Outperform indicates that the analyst expects the stock to perform better than the broader market or industry peers over the coming investment horizon according to TipRanks. Analyst rating revisions often influence market sentiment, as institutional and retail investors reassess their outlook based on updated Wall Street research.

The shares closed the day at $655.19, up 3.9% from the previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Deere’s shares are not very volatile and have only had 9 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 11 days ago when the stock gained 6.8% on the news that the company reported fiscal third-quarter results that topped expectations and raised its full-year guidance.

Deere is up 40.3% since the beginning of the year, and at $655.04 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $662.49 from February 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Deere’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,733.
