A new type of AI clarity app from Hercules Designs is helping users gain mental clarity and break free from overthinking, offering an alternative to commonly available chat-based apps that encourage users to simply converse.

-- Gutly, by Hercules Designs, has launched on the App Store and Google Play, introducing what the developer describes as a new category of AI application designed specifically to help users achieve mental clarity rather than encourage open-ended conversations.

Hercules Juver, owner and creator of Hercules Designs, explained that Gutly was developed for adults who experience persistent overthinking, decision fatigue, or difficulty quieting their minds. "Most people who struggle with overthinking or decision fatigue are not looking for more information," Juver said. "They are looking for a way to cut through what is already in their heads, and that is a completely different problem than what most AI apps are designed to solve."
Juver explained that many general-purpose AI assistants are designed to continue conversations by offering detailed, expansive responses. While that approach can be useful in many situations, he noted that it may also leave users who are already overwhelmed with even more information to process.
Gutly, by contrast, was built to provide a focused response intended to help users move forward rather than prolong the interaction.
At the center of the app is a system of ten Clarity Lenses, each designed to support a different way of thinking depending on the user's mental state. Instead of changing only the tone of the response, each lens follows a distinct reasoning framework intended to guide the conversation toward a specific outcome.
For example, the Challenger lens is designed to question assumptions and identify gaps in reasoning, while the Gut Check lens encourages users to identify their initial instincts before analysis paralysis takes over.
Using the app involves first using a preliminary Smart Lens, which is an intake stage users go through before selecting a Clarity Lens. Once this stage is complete, the app generates a response using the reasoning approach associated with that particular Clarity Lens.
Gutly is intended as a tool for reflection, perspective, and decision support and is not a replacement for licensed mental health, medical, financial, or legal professionals. Hercules Juver states, "The platform is intended to help users organize their thoughts and reach their own conclusions rather than make decisions on their behalf."
The app includes a free tier, while paid membership plans start at $2.99 per month and provide additional daily questions and access to more Clarity Lenses.
