Inovalon’s Real-World Data and Analytics Fuel Forbes’ Inaugural Top Hospitals List & Ratings

Inovalon, a leading provider of data and solutions empowering data-driven healthcare, announced its real-world data and analytics supported Forbes’ inaugural Top Hospitals List & Ratings, released today at the 2025 Forbes Healthcare Summit. The ratings introduce an advanced, evidence-based approach to evaluating hospital quality, safety, and performance using validated measures to reflect the demographics and socioeconomic factors shaping patient care and outcomes.

“The accuracy and breadth of the underlying data are critical for a ratings program at this scale,” said Ed Chidsey, President of Inovalon’s Insights business unit. “Our work with Forbes demonstrates why organizations rely on Inovalon. Our real-world data is nationally representative, and our expert researchers deliver the rigorous, actionable evidence needed to provide the most complete view of hospital performance.”

The Forbes Overall Hospital Quality Ratings (FOHQR) were created in collaboration with Inovalon’s award-winning Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team and leverages Inovalon’s extensive real-world datasets, including individual-level social risk factors, to provide a more complete and equitable assessment of hospital quality and outcomes. This analysis applies cutting-edge methodologies and, for the first time, factors in critical information on patients’ social risk factors to deliver practical insights and meaningful benchmarks that show hospitals how they compare to peers and where equity gaps and improvement opportunities exist. Top-performing hospitals on the 2026 list include widely known academic hospitals, specialty hospitals, and community rural hospitals across the country.

“The depth and quality of the underlying data along with our unique methodology gives users the ability to see hospital performance through a more equitable and evidence-based lens. It’s what makes Forbes’ first Top Hospitals List & Ratings meaningful,” said Rachel Rabkin Peachman, Senior Editor at Forbes. “Inovalon’s real-world data delivers the detail, accuracy, and context needed to create comprehensive, evidence-based ratings that we hope give patients and healthcare leaders a clear picture of hospital performance, which can drive significant improvement.”

Inovalon’s HEOR solutions combine one of the industry’s largest primary source all-payer datasets, advanced analytics, and deep quality measurement expertise to deliver rigorous, actionable evidence. With data spanning all major payer types, including 100% of traditional Medicare Fee-for-Service, 29% of Medicare Advantage, 31% of commercial, and 89% of Medicaid insured lives along with individual socioeconomic risk factors, Inovalon helps stakeholders understand patient journeys, quantify unmet needs, and generate insights that support value demonstration, market access, and evidence-based strategy.
