Immersive experiences, and international positioning aligned with global travel trends for 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C. / ACCESS Newswire / January 19, 2026 / Brazil has been becoming a highlight on the national and international sustainable tourism scene, and this is due to its strong protagonism in ecotourism, thanks to its immense biodiversity, vast territorial extension with multiple biomes, beautiful natural landscapes, and cultural richness.
In addition to consolidating itself as a national reference in sustainable tourism, it has been gaining ground in areas such as innovation and market intelligence. Aligning its strategy with the main global travel trends for 2026. This positioning is reflected in expressive results recorded in 2025, with emphasis on Iguassu Falls and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Iguassu Falls as an international showcase

Iguassu National Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, reached in 2025 the highest number of visitors in its history, with 2,020,359 visitors, reinforcing its position as one of the most sought-after natural destinations in the world. The record performance follows a global movement that values immersive experiences, purpose-driven travel, and authentic connection with nature. In addition, the celebrations of the 87th anniversary of the National Park also marked the launch of Parque 2030, a plan that foresees BRL 600 million in investments to strengthen environmental conservation and position the attraction among the world's leading nature-connection experiences.
In the field of promotion and business generation, Iguassu Falls strengthened its position as a leisure and business destination. In 2025, 35 new MICE events were secured, with an estimated economic impact of more than BRL 180 million. For 2026, the initiative foresees a greater presence at major international trade fairs, such as FITUR, ITB, WTM, and IBTM, as well as training actions, press trips, and digital campaigns focused on personalizing the visitor experience.
Mato Grosso do Sul consolidates itself as a reference in sustainable tourism

Throughout 2025, Mato Grosso do Sul also stood out by winning 11 national and international awards through Fundtur MS, in addition to recording growth in air traffic, the opening of new routes, and advances in market intelligence. At the state's main airports alone, the number of passengers increased by 5.6%, rising from 685,700 to 724,662.
Sustainability and inclusion continue as the main pillars of the state's tourism strategy. In 2025, Mato Grosso do Sul presented the Tourism Climate Agenda during the thematic days of COP 30, reinforcing its commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030. Pioneering Afro-tourism, ethnotourism, and accessible tourism projects expanded the protagonism of local communities and responded to the growing demand for culturally meaningful and socially responsible experiences.
Based on these results, Mato Grosso do Sul and Iguassu Falls project 2026 as a year of international consolidation, reinforcing their positioning as competitive, sustainable destinations aligned with the expectations of the contemporary traveler, who seeks more than just visiting: wants to experience, connect, and generate positive impact.
