Jeonbuk’s small businesses are stepping onto the global stage through a promotional fair in Hong Kong.
The Jeonbuk Small Business Support Center will host the “Jeonbuk Small Business Promotion Fair” at APITA Department Store in Hong Kong from October 17 to 18, bringing together about 27 participating companies, including small enterprises and SMEs from the province.
The event goes beyond a simple sales showcase. It serves as a strategic test-marketing initiative designed to capture direct feedback from Hong Kong consumers and use it to shape next year’s product localization and branding strategies. Participating companies will present a variety of Jeonbuk-made food, household, and beauty products, introducing the region’s distinctive offerings while gaining insights into local consumer preferences.
A representative from the Center noted, “This fair represents an important opportunity for Jeonbuk’s small businesses, which have traditionally focused on the domestic market, to engage directly with overseas consumers. Our goal is not short-term export gains, but to build a sustainable foundation for long-term international growth through localization.”
During the fair, the Center will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hong Kong Chapter of the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA). Through this partnership, the two organizations will work together to expand exports of Jeonbuk products across Hong Kong and other Asian markets by coordinating joint marketing efforts, distribution partnerships, and buyer-matching programs.
Building on this initial step, the Center plans to expand its “Overseas Market Entry Project” in phases.
Next year’s initiatives will include:
- Product renewals reflecting feedback from Hong Kong consumers
- Joint branding and marketing campaigns
- Online export platform operations
The Jeonbuk Small Business Support Center plays a vital role in strengthening cooperation and growth among local small manufacturers with fewer than ten employees. Through partnerships with industry, academia, research institutions, and local governments, the Center promotes technology exchange, information sharing, joint commercialization, and cluster development, enhancing the sustainable competitiveness of Jeonbuk’s small business community.
